"The Episcopal Church Welcomes You". You've seen it on signs like this one all around the country. When you see this sign you know you're near a place where you'll be truly welcome. At St. Mark's, we know that you'll be made to feel at home. For most of the year, worship services are held at 10:00 AM on Sundays and at other times for special occasions. During the months of July and August, Eucharist begins at 9:00 rather than 10:00. Please join us for worship and fellowship.
The Diocese of Bethlehem has accomplished its initial goals for the New Hope campaign in that the schools have been built, It total, we have built 5 primary schools, one secondary school, a tailoring training center, and a college. Our work, however, is not done. Currently, there are two needs...
- Many secondary students live too far from the school to commute daily. Though the first dormitory has been built, many must still sleep on classroom floors. Three additional dormitories are needed at a total cost of $225,000 with another $104,000 needed for furnishings.
- Many families are too poor to pay even the very modest (by our standards) cost of education. The area's protracted wars have left countless war orphans for whom education is generally cost prohibitive. In 2015 we doubled our scholarships to 20 per school and designated half to war orphans. The goal for 2016 is to increase the scholarships to 25 per school. The annual cost is $35/year for primary students and $350/year for those in secondary school.
Your support of either or both programs is urgently requested and even a small donation would be greatly appreciated. See. Fr. Earl or Jack Welsch for more information on how you can help.
